ERIC embodies ECAS’s vision of a user-friendly, inclusive, and privacy-respecting platform that empowers EU citizens to navigate their rights with confidence. By providing timely and trustworthy guidance, ERIC supports citizens in making informed decisions and accessing the full benefits of EU citizenship.
Currently in its early, testing phase, ERIC will focus on specific topics to refine its capabilities and ensure the highest quality of information. The first topic ERIC covers is cross-border teleworking rights — an increasingly common way of working in the EU that allows citizens and their family members to live and work from different Member States.
While cross-border telework opens up new opportunities, it can also create challenges for employees, employers, and the self-employed in understanding which immigration, social security, tax, and labour law rules apply. ECAS, building on its strong expertise in freedom of movement rights, has equipped ERIC with precise and reliable information drawn from official EU and national legislation, as well as its own Teleworking Info Toolkit, to guide citizens through these complexities.
Through consistent quality control, ECAS’s aim is to ensure that the information ERIC provides is always accurate, relevant, and fully aligned with the latest EU and Member State legislation. Over time, ERIC will expand its scope to cover more topics and continuously improve the quality of its answers to meet the highest standards.
During this testing phase, citizens are warmly invited to use ERIC and submit their questions, which will help us refine and improve the assistant over time. We believe that ERIC is a collective project — built for citizens and shaped with their input — and that together we can ensure it becomes an increasingly reliable, accurate, and user-friendly tool. By engaging with ERIC now, users contribute directly to enhancing its quality and effectiveness, making it a better resource for everyone in the future.
“With ERIC, we take another step forward in our mission to empower citizens, while also embracing the potential of new technologies such as artificial intelligence to make EU rights more accessible and understandable for everyone” said Elisa Lironi, Deputy Executive Director at ECAS. “We invite everyone to try ERIC, ask their questions about cross-border teleworking, and help us improve this innovative service for the future.”
Citizens are encouraged to test ERIC now by visiting*: https://ecas-eric.eu/telework
* For the best experience, we recommend using ERIC on a laptop or desktop computer rather than on a mobile device.
