In a personal capacity he has served as Chairman of the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe, President of EUNIC Brussels and Europe of Cultures Forum; Treasurer of EFACIS and Sportimonium; Board member of the Leuven Centre for Irish Studies. In 2009 on a pro-bono basis, he undertook a review of the ECAS organisation and subsequently joined the board serving terms both as Treasurer and Chairman. In 2024, he participated as an external expert on the Audit and Risks Subcommittee. In June 2025 he was invited to re-join the ECAS board.
